Can't know everything

I recently moved into a new apartment in an area in downtown Los Angeles. There are a lot of nice coffee shops here. One of my favorites, Go Get Em Tiger, recently closed down due to COVID-19. Sad.

  • I was recently reading about credit default swaps. They are quite interesting. On one hand, the complexity can get out of hand. On the other hand, they can really effectively hedge. Since it’s only a matter of time before every company becomes an asset manager / financial services company, I look forward to the day I can further understand these contracts.

  • I also read about narratives. Something can be valued based on the story it has told (to date). This is quite effective. An optimized narrative can help predict the future. Sometimes, this can bail you out of a tough spot.

I just learnt about both of these things. I also felt blind-sighted by both. Hope to learn more soon.
